Estimados colegas y amigos:
Los eventos científicos son una excelente oportunidad para conocer otros profesionales que, al igual que nosotros, trabajan en el fascinante mundo de la medicina nuclear, informarnos acerca de nuevos desarrollos en el campo de la radiofarmacia y la instrumentación así como ampliar nuestros conocimientos en otros temas de interés personal. Todo esto nos permite sin duda expandir nuestras redes profesionales lo cual implica un crecimiento en sí mismo.
El vertiginoso desarrollo tecnológico y radiofarmacéutico representa un desafío cada vez mayor para el tecnólogo en medicina nuclear, en cuanto a mantenerse al día en nuevos procedimientos diagnósticos y terapéuticos. Pensando en ello, hemos preparado para este Congreso de la WFNMB/Alasbimn un Programa de Tecnólogos que nos dará una valiosa oportunidad para el intercambio de conocimientos y experiencias entre distintas comunidades de diferentes regiones del mundo. Teniendo en cuenta la diversidad de aspectos que atañe a la tarea del tecnólogo, en este programa quisimos contemplar además del aspecto científico, el aspecto psicológico relacionado al trato directo con el paciente y, muy especialmente, algunos temas vinculados a la formación académica y educación continuada.
Debemos promover el desarrollo de la medicina nuclear entre nuestros colegas y jerarquizar nuestra profesión frente a los demás miembros del equipo de trabajo y frente al público en general en las distintas regiones del mundo. Esto requiere de nuestro mayor esfuerzo y la mejor calidad de trabajo en nuestro propio servicio día tras día, esforzándonos por superarnos constantemente, asistiendo y participando activamente en reuniones y congresos científicos, desempeñandonos en el ámbito de instituciones nacionales e internacionales relacionadas a la práctica de la medicina nuclear para lograr en nuestra profesión una mejor y más homogénea formación curricular.
A todos aquellos que, aun a pesar de los duros momentos que nos están tocando vivir a muchos pueblos del mundo, puedan concurrir al 8º Congreso de la WFNMB y 14º Congreso de la Alasbimn en Santiago, los esperamos para compartir esta instancia científica y social única. Para los que desafortunadamente no puedan hacerlo, deseamos al menos tener la oportunidad de ofrecer la publicación de las conferencias presentadas en nuestro programa de tecnólogos.
Agradezco en forma personal al Dr. Ismael Mena, Editor Jefe de la Revista de Alasbimn, quien nos ha proporcionado la posibilidad de publicar este material, al Comité Organizador del Congreso por la confianza y el apoyo brindados, y muy especialmente al Comité Científico y a mis colegas del Comité de Tecnólogos con quienes he contado incondicionalmente durante este tiempo, por más de dos años de trabajo.

Dear colleagues and friends,
Scientific events are an excellent opportunity to meet other professionals who, like us, work in the fascinating world of Nuclear Medicine, get informed about new developments in the fields of radiopharmacy and instrumentation, as well as to expand our knowledge in other subjects of personal interest. With no doubt, all these allow us to widen our professional networks which implies a growth by itself.
Each time, the rapid technologic and radiopharmaceutical development is more challenging for the nuclear medicine technologist in order to keep updated with respect to new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Thinking in that, we have prepared for this WFNMB and Alasbimn Congress a Technologist Program which will give us a unique opportunity to interchange knowledge and experience between different communities from different regions of the world. Taking into account the diversity of aspects involved in the technologist’s duties, we wanted to contemplate in this program not only the scientific aspects of our job, but also the psychological aspects involved in dealing with patients and, very specially, some subjects concerning academic formation and continuing education.
We should promote nuclear medicine development among our colleagues around the world and valorise our profession in front of other members of the working team and the public. This requires our biggest effort and the best quality of work in our own departments, trying to improve constantly by attending and actively participating in meetings and congresses, and working at national and international institutions related to nuclear medicine practice in order to achieve a better and more homogeneous curricular training.
We welcome all those who will be able to come to the 8th Congresses of the WFNMB in Santiago in spite of the tough moments many countries are going through, in order to share this unique social and scientific event. For those who unfortunately will not be able to attend, we wish at least to have the opportunity to offer the conferences contained in our technologist program.
I wish to personally thank Dr. Ismael Mena, Editor in Chief of Alasbimn Journal for giving us the possibility of publishing these materials, the Organizing Committee of the Congress for their support and very specially the Scientific Committee and my colleagues in the Technologist Committee on whom I unconditionally counted on along this period –more than two years– of work.
